Welcome to Cape Town!

Ride  – 40km, Elevation – 400m 


Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, our guide will meet you and bring you safely to the hotel. For those renting bicycles, they will be waiting for you and our mechanic on hand to assist setup or help re-assemble your own bike if needed.

For those who choose, there is a short late afternoon ride along the Atlantic Ocean to Camps Bay and back. Then our welcome drinks and introduction dinner at a venue with spectacular ocean scenery.

For our Cape Town leg you will be staying at the President Hotel on the Seapoint Promenade close to all  tourist activities and sights

Cycle Tour Route

Ride – 109km Cycling, Elevation – 1300m

Today's ride mirrors the Cape Town Cycle Tour as a warm to the big day in Joburg!  Inspired by the world's largest timed road cycling race taking in both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and the Cape Peninsula

For non-cycling partners, a variety of options can be booked.  The shuttle will be available to go to nearby  beaches, the Waterfront, or Table Mountain. Many exciting activities are available and we are happy to help you choose and book whatever you desire.
In the early evening, the group will go on an excursion with a local guide, leisurely walking in the  Bo Kaap, known for its vibrant colors and cultural significance. This will include an early dinner and Cape Malay cooking lesson, offering a deeper immersion into the local cuisine and culinary traditions of the region  


Day 3 - Monday 20th Oct

Melkbosstrand route

 Distance – 70km, elevation – 450m

Today, a flat and easy ride out along the West Atlantic coast to the north of Cape Town for its stunning coastal views of the city and mountain and a more peaceful vibe with coffee and cakes in Melkbosstrand before heading back to the hotel.

For non-cyclists in the morning, a leisurely morning coffee/shop/chill time.along the promenade or at the V&A Waterfront are recommended.
At 1pm, cyclists and non-cyclists will be bussed to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for an afternoon stroll and leisurely picnic lunch featuring the best local produce.


 Sundown and dinner at own leisure so either enjoy the hotel facitilies and entertainment or we can suggest many fabulous options close by 


Day 4 - Tuesday 21st October

Chapmans Peak vista

 Distance – 100km, elevation – 1200m

A memorable ride along the coast through Camp's Bay and over Chapman's Peak Drive, known for its dramatic coastal scenery. Down the other side for a coffee in Noordhoek farm village before climbing over Ou Kaapse Weg towards the Indian Ocean.

Cyclists will meet up with non-cyclists in Kalk Bay for lunch with stunning views of False Bay and the Indian Ocean. 


Non-cyclist companions will have spent their day exploring Simonstown, enjoying the penguins at Boulders Beach, visiting second-hand shops in Kalk Bay, and the beauty of Chapman's Peak Drive.


A lovely authentic dinner at a vibrant African  location will be sponsored by ACE.

Beautiful winelands

Today it's a rest/easy day with a trip to Table Mountain in the morning (optional cycle up and back, 28km 540m climb!) and organised wine tasting and lunch in beautiful Constantia in the afternoon.

A shuttle will take those who don't ride to Table Mountain for a hike, a cable car experience, or a combination of both.

After the visit to Table Mountain, those who wish will head to Groet Constantia wine farm with 2 or 3 wine tastings sponsored by ACE (lunch not included). The evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure but we will arrange an optional special dinner for our last night in Cape Town.

Franschhoek scenery

Distance – 40km, Elevation – 400m

Check-out from the President and transfer to the airport for our flight to Johannesburg (Lanseria airport, return flight included) where we will transfer to the Cradle Boutique Hotel (10 min trip) in the stunning Cradle of Humankind.

After lunch, chill by the pool or enjoy the luxurious spa.

Late afternoon we will enjoy a beautiful sunset ride in the Cradle to help acclimatise to the Joburg altitude (1600m above sea level) and heat (usually 5-10 degrees warmer than Cape Town). We will enjoy a sundowner and light meal at one of the many cafes halfway before heading back to the hotel

Day 7 - Friday 24th October

Day 8 - Saturday 25th October

Distance – 80km, Elevation – 800m

Today we will do a ride around Cradle of Humankind, Joburg's top cycling destination, just enough to keep the legs spinning without adding too much fatigue before Sunday's big event!

Lunch and relaxation at the hotel or a visit to the Maropeng visitor centre/Sterkfontein Caves and then a late afternoon game drive at the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve  where you will see many of Africa's flora and fauna.

We finish the day with a traditional South African Braai joined by some of our Joburg colleagues and friends

Today is up to you!

Option 1 - Join us for a short trip to the Ride Joburg expo at the FNB stadium, home of the 2010 World Cup football final followed by an organised history and cultural tour of the Soweto township, a place of historical significance where Nelson Mandela called home   

Option 2 - If you prefer to relax, enjoy a last leg loosener in the buzzing Cradle (expect 100s of cyclists doing the same!) one of our guides will join you for whatever distance you feel comfortable with


Evening - enjoy a relaxing dinner, race briefing for any last minute questions and an early night once you're well prepped for tomorrow's race;)

The big event! 98km, 1200m elevation

Are you ready for the world's second largest timed cycling event with around 25,000 others?  Fear not, ACE take care of getting you there in time for your start batch and with full road closure, Marshalls/Police and 8 well stocked water points, you'll be just fine! 

Most of us will start together in one of the charity/team batches but whether you want to race for a sub 3 hour or take your time and enjoy the gees with your fellow riders and the cheering crowds, we will be there to celebrate with you at the finish    

Afterwards we will relax, enjoy some food and drinks at the beer tent and celebrate your achievements and then the shuttle will take us back to the hotel. 


A last celebration dinner will be arranged for those flying out the next morning or if have another destination to go to, we will arrange transportation to either airport
